KAMUN 2013 started off with far more participants than the year before. The conference was especially characterized by the large share of newcomers, who were given the opportunity to gain experience for future conferences in our relatively small committees and to picture the organizational structures of a MUN. Just as its predecessors the KaMUN 2013 devoted itself to the currently most vibrant and energetic political topics. The members of the United Nations Security Council passionately debated about solutions of the civil war in Syria while others simultaneously negotiated about a reform of the Arms Trade Treaty, a multilateral treaty regulating the international conventional arms trade, in the Committee for Disarmament and International Security (DISEC).
In 2014, we as organizing team were able to bring KAMUN to a new level. A lot of things changed: new conference venue, twice as many participants as 2013, four commitees instead of two, new social events and far more new features. Thanks to the KIT we we had the opportunity use the new presidium building as venue for the conference. Concerning the number of porticipants, we doubled our size. More than 140 delegates from 22 nations came to together and experienced a unique weekend in Karlsruhe. As in 2013 we continued our saturday social event tradition, the atmospheric chees fondue. At friday night we introduced a new social event, the bavarian night, which took place in a relaxed atmosphere and therefore was a good opportunity for the delegates to get to know each other. According to the feedback KAMUN was experienced as conference with attention to detail and a special atmosphere.
In 2019 we are celebrating the 10th edition of KaMUN – The Black Forest Summit from November 15th to 17th. We are once again expecting students from across the globe to share an unforgettable weekend both fun and enriching in Karlsruhe, Germany. This year topics range from Distress Rescue of Refugees to the Sustainable Development Goals, and from the Situation in Yemen to Disarmament in Outer Space. We are looking forward to having you on board!
